Branding
Branding is crucial as it establishes a visual identity that resonates with a target audience, conveying the essence and values of a business. It involves creating a cohesive and memorable set of visual elements, such as logos, color schemes, typography, and imagery, that distinguish a brand in the marketplace. Effective branding fosters recognition, builds trust, and evokes emotional connections, ultimately influencing consumer perceptions and driving loyalty.
The Bake Shop
at Skyline Drive Orchard
The inspiration for the logo and branding came from the look of a traditional French pâtisserie. We introduced a pattern in the background shape of the logo which is utilized on other pieces. The apple tree at the top of the logo represents the orchard where the bakery is located and reinforces the fresh produce used in their offerings.
The signage reflects the ornate design of the logo and conveys the sophisticated, yet fun, nature of the bakery. Directional signs were placed on surrounding roads to help guide customers to the shop. The entrance sign shows a sampling of the baked goods they sell.
Several local restaurants were invited to partner with The Bake Shop and sell their pies. Print and email invitations were sent out along with descriptions of the pies being offered.
Social media posts for The Bake Shop’s First Anniversary celebration, posts advertising their offerings at a local Christmas Market and their specials during February.
The Sample Saturdays flyer invited guests to enjoy free samples of various baked goods on specific Saturdays. Coupons for Free Crumb pies were given out as prizes at different events. The Branding Guide illustrates how to maintain proper branding.
Holy Family University
The University needed to update their branding to make it more flexible. This allowed us to control how people perceive the University. By using strong keywords and underlines in headlines we could drive the messaging. We also utilized patterns by screening them back against the strong, dark blue background in order to give pieces more depth.
The viewbook is a comprehensive marketing piece targeting high school juniors and seniors. It gives an overview of what you’ll experience as a student at the University.
These billboards are some of the early applications of the new branding. Large keywords, color variations, and underlines helped drive home the messaging.
Brochures are sent to high school juniors and seniors showing the living options available to them on campus. Every major has a Fact Sheet to explain the requirements needed to graduate with a degree in the given program.
The Financial Aid book provides valuable resources for students planning to attend the University. It also gives them information on what their financial responsibility looks like if they are a resident, commuter or transfer student.
Adding motion to our web banners attracted more attention than static ads; as well as, allowing us to display more information for the events we were advertising. With several tv monitors around campus we were able to leverage motion to promote various events and display information in a more pleasing way than a slide full of text.
Social media posts were used to promote brand awareness and events on campus. They were also used to highlight various holidays, celebrate culturally important months and honor historic figures through a series of posts.
The Cooperative Nursery School
The Cooperative Nursery School aims to provide the best early learning experience for each child by establishing an involved community of diverse families. Through indoor and outdoor play, they learn by actively participating and collaborating with each other while building their problem solving skills and independence.
The school’s logo looked dated so we gave it a fresh update with a modern typeface and more appealing lock-up. They requested that we keep the salamander and leaf graphic lock-up. The color palette was inspired by elements in nature (grass, dirt and water) because it's primarily an outdoor school. The hand-drawn rule conveys the hands-on nature of their teaching methods. The logo redesign then led to the branding guide, information session presentation and other projects.
The Information Session presentation was used during open house events to highlight the unique experiences the children get by attending the school. It was important to show students engaged in outdoor learning and how connected the faculty and co-oping parents are with the students.
The branding guide provides the tools needed to keep on brand. The Salamander Scoop is a weekly newsletter for parents to see what their kids were up to. We redesigned several pieces for the school to show how type, colors and patterns could be used moving forward.
The website was redesigned to highlight the fun activities and learning experiences the kids enjoy throughout the year.
